Keeping Your Home Safe from Burglars

You need to keep your house safe when you are away from it; either you may be on outing or with your family for some day holidays. Although, a question will arise in your mind, “Will my house be safe from burglars?” or “Will I find it the same way I left it?”  Click here for taking a three minute test to see how safe your home is from burglars. Before your family can be safe in home or you think your house should be protected, it is important to understand which residential security will be good for you and which one is not. Just as every problem has a solution, this article supports your view of protecting your house from burglars. Let’s see how –

Home Burglars require themselves to do their job so perfectly that they steal your belongings and they shouldn’t be caught by anyone too.

Most burglars look for:

  • Something worth stealing
  • Easy access combined with low visibility
  • A home that is unoccupied

If you cover these three areas, a home burglar cannot enter your house and your house will be protected from the same. If you follow these tips, you can prevent break ins.

a) Fool them by making your house look occupied all the time.  Even if you are not in house, your house shouldn’t look like vacant. Make use of automatic timer on lights. You can also use systems which play your radio or music system time (in a loud voice) to time and automatically. Leave notes on your doors so that they can tip off burglars. Keep telephone ringer and answering machine at a low sound.

b) Have your telephone calls forwarded to your cell number when you are on some day holidays. If a burglar calls your telephone to see whether someone is home, the call forwarded to your cell phone will trick him the idea that home is vacant.

c) Be a good neighbor so that your neighbors may support you in times of help and emergency. Ask your trusted neighbor to put your garbage cans on the street and take them in. You may wish to have your neighbors use your garbage cans until you are back. Burglars sometimes check empty cans as a sign the family is away from home. Even if you don’t need help, tell a trusted neighbor that you are away from home for a few days.

d) Ask your local police to check your home regularly when you have gone out for some days.

Show in such a way that your house is not vacant.

e) A burglar does not want to be detected. Install motion detector lights around your house at least 8 to 10 feet above the ground so that they are difficult to disable.  Install lights in such a way that all doors and windows are covered.

f)  Do not let bushes or shrubs grow around your home (especially around doors and windows). If you do, prefer those ones who possess thorns in them.

g) Install a security alarm system with a loud sound so that it may distract neighbor’s attention.

f) The doors and windows should possess best quality locks so that they can’t break to open.

g) The best thing is to install a monitoring system and have a monitoring operator to take care of it all the time.

Most break-ins can be avoided by just taking some simple home security steps. There are several ways to reduce the chance of an intruder breaking into your home.  If you follow these steps, it is tough that an intruder may raid your home.
